You might also try searching here in the MRR forums. He used to have some extensive posts in which he discussed a lot of that kind of stuff. I can't recall his handle here-- was it "Joef" maybe, like it is on the other site? Nope.. just looked it up-- he's "jfugate" here on this site.

Use the search thingy there on the right ( ----> ) and enter something like "formula AND userid:44812" (which is what I did) and found several of his old threads where he discussed that kind of stuff. Once you get back to about the right time period, you can start to look around for other, similar threads. There were quite a few of them. Here's one to get you started:

The linked discussion is actually about Joe's "ground goop" scenry base mix, and has nothing to do with his weathering mixes or zip texture that I could see.

Besides that, these old threads are not as pertinent as they once were.  The pigment powders Joe used originally, have since been discontinued.

The best source of current information on this subject is the article Joe wrote for the Sept/Oct. issue of Model Railroad Hobbyist Magazine.

When I mix the Gypsolite I use for texturing landforms, I squirt in some cheap acrylic craft paint to color it.

The recipe is listed in one of the DVDs, I think it was vol 4

IIRC, he gave recipes for making various colors in one of his issues, or maybe it was in a thread in the forum.

Is there a formula to make a rust color with zip texturing.I bought Joe Fugate's Siskiyou line dvd and he had a bridge abutment on the dvd that he really didn't cover on the coloring. He seems to use the zip texture for his weathering.I've tried searches but not having to much success.Any help is greatly appreciated.
