Got a rear facing headlight into an Arnold N scale S-2 (reported previously elsewhere).  Currently working on experiments to get a working light in the nose...

Back again.  I love long weekends.

I've been working on the scenery around this old mill building.  Back on page 1 I had a shot of the building in place, but I've had time to dig out the canal, line it with plaster cloth, paint the walls black to reduce the visibility of gaps in the stone walls, and add the walls themselves:

I made 3 stone wall castings with Hydrocal, one flat, one concave and one convex so that I could follow the walls smoothly.

Happy New Year everybody,

It's been a long time since I posted on WPF, I figured it would be nice to share a couple of photo's of the portable layout I'm building. It's 1X8 and splits into two 1X4 sections so it can fit in the back of my car. I'm building this layout as a DCC demonstration layout to be used at train shows, show visitors will be allowed to operate it (with supervision). It also has it's own programming track and will be connected to a laptop running JMRI so we can try to help those that are having difficulties programming.

.

Here's a view of the bottom, It has a solid wood bottom with access doors to protect the switch motors and DCC system during transport.

The tracks are almost down, and I'm awaiting the delivery of the PH-Pro system I ordered so I can begin the wiring.

Cheers,

Jamie

Great start all. Happy new year.

Aggro, great to see you swing by again.

Selector : very nice.

I planted some grass yesterday, I bought two Heki Static Grass mats to see what they are like, they are the ones you cut or rip apart to make random tufts.

This is the result so far: I think it looks quite nice. I plan on getting soe more and maybe a different colou or two to finish the layout off, a big improvement over the ground foam I think.

Looking toward the grain elevator.

And the hill side cutting.

Cheers.

AggroJones, nice 1:1 scale modelling there! ;-)

Nice stuff everybody. I have nothing to show this week, the layout is a no man's land since the owner of the house is sick since a week!!!

Just finished up these rusty junkers this morning. They're going to be used in a 'U-Pick-n-Pull' antique auto parts junkyard toward the back of my layout.

I see a lot of good work this week.

This 1952 Ford wagon is one of over a dozen junked vehicles I'm working on at this time.

Very nice work everyone, it has been a great year in WPF, & this week is no exception!
I'm choosing this as my closing pic for the year, shot last week.
Although the models are almost stock, I wanted an interesting 'prop' to carry the shot.

Eric,

What were you doing floating around Bimini when you should have been working on  your layout?

Are you going to model that scene?

Have fun,

Richard

I guess I could use the excuse that I did some sailing as a way to find clarity on how to best do my yard ladder.

Thank-you very much, Bob, for your kind remark.  I regret that I later removed that file and added what I thought was an improved one (I moved the train closer to the camera and retook the shot, then fixed the smoke a bit.).   Unfortunately, it means your quoted URL is no longer valid.  I regret my change and any inconvenience it may cause you.  No need to alter your post...your comment is just fine. Big Smile

I sure like the depth of your photo, DJ, and the shadowed close side of the box car and diesel look so realistic.  I also notice the slight change of grade between siding and the main.  Very nice.

The boxcar looks very realistic, Robby.

Some great work so far, and I'm sure there's more to come!

I used some time over break to do some work on my overpass. It's still a work in progress, but at least it looks like something now.

NIce work, everyone.  I've been "milling around" the pink foam space that will become Mooseport, the carfloat terminal on my layout.  With some relatively warm and dry weather, I broke with tradition and built this structure first, before laying the track or doing any scenery.

I needed the buildings in place to define the location for the old, abandoned canal crossing from upper right to lower left, marked in black and scored across just before I started gouging out the foam.  And, I needed the canal before I could lay the track.  The siding on the left will be more or less as you see it, but the track curving around behind the buildings to the right will be replaced by street-running girder rail running through cobblestones.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Thanks, Crandell.  I may be just a little biased, but that is one beautiful scene and model. DJ.
