I'm obviously partial to the PRR but I think Mopacs passenger scheme of light gray and blue is exceptional and if you asked the general public I'd bet the farm on the ATSF passenger war bonnet scheme on F units as first choice.

The Union Pacific is a classic that seems to work well on anything.

I like the SP Black Widow

#2 WP silver and orange.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

On passenger equipment,SP Daylight[:)].
On F units,Santa Fe Warbonnet[8D].
SP red & grey looks really good when fresh and clean.[8D]
Of course,on SP this means either fresh from the factory,or right out of Sacramento Shops after a rebuild[}:)].
Ride Amtrak. Cats Rule, Dogs Drool.

I think it would look better in orange and black

Even though I primarily model the Western Maryland, whose paint scheme never set the world on fire, I have to give my vote for favorite scheme to the D&H. [image]http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/dh/dh18bbs.jpg[/image] Those PAs look so good, that I have stabled some for "excursion service", along with a shark.
Hey, the PA's did live in the WM Hagerstown roundhouse for a time after their time was up on the D&H, so it could have happened!
Besides, I just got my modelers license renewed yesterday!!!!!!![;)]

I think the C&NW's paint schemes have always looked good - I like the way they kept basically the same colour scheme from their E-units right to the end (on their Dash 9s), and to my mind it suited pretty much every loco it was applied to. I have 3 locos and a set of bilevel cars in this scheme.

I also think the CB&Q's passenger scheme as used on their E5s and later locos was superb. I would very much like to see these locos RTR in HO at a sensible price - Walthers make matching passenger cars but there are no locos to haul them (at least, I've not seen any except BLI, and those are out of my price range).

I also think the EMD Demo paint schemes have always looked good - I guess they had to help sell the locos, but they managed to come up with a series of schemes that suited the loco in question and were also unmistakably EMD.

Diesel: SP Daylight and Rio Grande Gold
Steam: SP Daylight (gee, I'm getting reduntant again) and for non-streamlined, I really like what Burlington/C&S did with their locos. Silver smokebox and red roof. Boy, I bet you knew when THEY were coming 'round the bend!
Electric: Milwaukee maroon and orange. They looked so COOL against a backdrop of the Rockies.
