How about a few more before and after shoots?

Here's some ugly before+after shots - first, the beginning of demolishing my old layout:

...then I removed some bolted-on wooden wall shelves to reveal this cute little memento from my house's previous owner:

A view of that same area from the opposite angle:

Same area as above, after painting over the walls:

New benchwork:

Benchwork with backdrop installed:

All the track for this new benchwork has been laid and wired, but I haven't yet had time to take any photos of that.  So, nothing 'beautiful' to counterbalance the ugly.

 Well it started out ugly?

 Then the mountain was started.

 Then some paint.

Then trees.

How about a few more before and after shoots?

Something ugly--

The mess under (okay I guess) and IN FRONT OF the layout (more of a problem) .  Not shown, the ugly presently on TOP of the layout.

Show me something you resolve to OVERCOME in 2012.

The big accomplishment in 2011 was the installation of the main yard.  It's big enough to handle over 100 cars, and processes around 25 to 30 trains in an ops session.

My daughter & I turned Byron Henderson's "Alameda Belt Line" into "Alameda Belt-in-a-Box":

We thought we'd be done over the summer, then before 2012, but now it looks like we'll need a little bit more time.

Casted up some domes and put them on this Athearn chemical tank car.  I know the tank Is a bit of a larger  than wine cars have but it was an easy conversion.

Shucks, I have not been following this thread for a week or so, and look what I'm missing!  Lots of magnificent modelling!

My only substantial modelling was with this outdoors diorama.  It actually got my appetite up for more, and I have ordered the Code 83 track for a new layout construction project.  Stay tuned for 2012! Stick out tongue
