Atlas imported the Roco FP-7 during the seventies. From what I have seen, the ER-model is the same one. Roco was supposed to be producing an updated version with many improvements for release but I haven't heard of anything on this in about a year. For a time it was on their website.

E R Models packaged and imported an FP7 - made for them by Roco and now in the Roco range. Not sure if this counts as a duplication - to the best of my knowledge nobody else has made an FP in HO scale. If any other UK-based modellers read this, check out www.ehattons.com as they have a stock of these locos very cheaply at the moment (22 August 2004). Just passing on information that might be of use to others!

I would also suggest Tri-ang as an addition to the F-unit listings - they made a diesel loco resembling an F7 in the late 1950's as part of their "Transcontinental" range - both A and B units were made though it was not a good model - wrong shape! Running was surprisingly good despite only having one truck powered, in common with most other Tri-ang products of this period. They can sometimes be found on eBay at a variety of prices, though they're really only of interest to collectors now.

It just occurred to me that nobody has mentioned the NYC J1 Hudson, which has been done in HO by American Flyer and BLI (and I vaguely remember that Marx might have done a really [censored] version) of the same engine).

'Course the AF version hasn't been produced for at leat 40 years, so it may not qualify if you're talking about locos produced in the last 10-20 years or so.

The Varney (now Bowser) "Casey Jones" and the MDC Harriman 4-6-0 might also be considered duplicates as they're based on essentially the same prototype (SP T-28). The Varney engine originally was sold without valve gear, which made it more closely resemble the Stephenson equipped T-28. To be technically correct (more or less), the Bowser version needs to have the cylinders off the "Old Lady", since, with Walschaerts valve gear, it's basically a T-31.

Maybe one of these days BLI or Bachmann Spectrum will get around to doing a Harriman 4-6-0 as either or both a T-28 and T-31. At least Bachmann has the proper tender for it, although the handrails are wrong.

Athearn did a GP40-2. It was not a duplicate of the GP40. Con-Cor and Atlas have released a GP40. The Con-Cor model is actually the old Atlas model that was built by Roco years ago.

Bowser and AHM (Rivarossi) labeled a 4-6-0 Casey Jones. The AHM was pretty accurate, the model representing the loco as built with a clerestory on the cab roof.

Bowser's was nowhere near accurate for that Illinois Central prototype in any phase of its existance. So 'zit count?

You're forgetting the Model Power E-7's. OTOH, I think Con-Cor bought the tooling. I believe the MP units were actually built by Roco.
