Tim,

Thanks! Maybe now, after many years, the signal will again light up!

Hi Paul,

The bulb (# L53(R)) for the #140 Banjo signal is mounted into a bracket that is riveted to the lamp cover plate. This lamp bracket also functions to "press" fit the cover to the lamp housing.

To remove the lamp cover, pull outward on the cover printed with "Stop when Swinging". I pull at the top and bottom of the plate with a slight wiggling action until it "pops" out. I try to pull at the point where the rivet is on the cover plate between the circular lamp window and the "Stop when Swinging" portion of the cover plate since the rivet is the point where the bracket is holding to the housing.

These are generally very tight and will tend to "pop" out. There are no wires conected to the cover plate. Once out, simply remove the old lamp from the lamp bracket on the cover plate, press a new lamp into the bracket and press the cover and lamp back in place. Thats all there is to it.

Regards,

Tim Pignatari

I have an old Lionel banjo signal my father bought when I was a baby. It's now back in swinging order, but the light has burned out. Does anyone know how to change the bulb? It appears to be sealed from the factory; I am afraid of damaging it if I fumble about without advice.

Thanks,

Paul ("nainjaun")
