I'm a modern guy, so those executive-scheme F9's that BN used to have would be my favorite. However, an Amtrak Cascades F59PHI would be a close second.

I voted for the FP59 so that engine would get at least one vote.

I'm not big into F-Units, but I would choose the FTs and FL9.

FL9 New Haven (McGinnis scheme) -- most handsome in the east.

F7 ATSF Warbonnet -- most handsome in the west.

If it's in the CB&Q's Gray Back Scheme, it's my favorite!!

2nd place goes to WABASH F-7s.

CN F7au's, 1700HP F7 rebuilds from the early 70's. CN/Via FP9's and ONT Cat powered F7au's are pretty nice as well.

FP-7 locomotives in Atlantic Coast Line purple/silver scheme or Black/yellow bumble scheme (SCL used this scheme also). They look really great sans skirting.

F3 because that's about all us 3 rail O gauge folks have been able to get. It wasn't until about 10 years ago that any F7s or other model were available at all. Although I couldn't exactly afford any F unit or higher end trains at the time, the F3s were what were most commonly seen in most of the catalogs I look at.

To this day, my favorite company, Lionel, makes only an F-3 and an FT. They have the 50 year old Phase IV F-3, and the new super-detailed scale-sized Phase II F-3.

I went with the F9 just to be different. I actually like them all-at least the "true" F units. I don't much care for the modern stuff, but that's just me[:D].

The F40, F45, FP45, F59, and F69 aren't really F units, besides the name "F" they aren't "true" F units.

Few things are sweeter than an A-B-B-A set of Western Maryland F7s in speedletter.

Modular railroading at its best!
If it has an X in it, it sucks! And yes, I just had my modeler's license renewed last week!

I agree. The FT's - as made by Stewart are beauties! They were designed for freight, but also hauled Passenger. I put my Brass FT's (3 sets) away.

FT The diesel that did it! That says it all!
It sounded the death toll for steam because it was more fuel efficient ran further between servicing, and could be multipled as the tonnage warranted with the same number of crew.
