Many pickup from one side of the truck for one rail and the other side of the second truck, the other rail.

Some like Roundhouse steamers pickup one rail, one one side of both trucks. The other side of both trucks, the other rail.

Get out your multimeter and use the ohms section of the meter and do some continuity checks and figure out how your loco and tender pickup from the rails. Since you are willing to do this kind of project, I assume you have a multimeter.

The right side of the loco pickup from the right rail and the left side of the loco, the left rail.

Match this to whatever tender you can get.

Changing tenders on Paragon 2 locos
Posted by PRIO on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 5:59 PM

I want to change my tender on my new Paragon 2 Heavy Mikado.   I run straight DC, has anyone done this.  I could probably just  pull out the electronics and put them into a different tender.   I' m  not sure how to do the pick up wheels, has anyone done this.  I called BLI and they were not very helpful.  He said it might work, but they would not sell  me just the tender I wanted.   Thanks.
