A friend sent me this link to an interesting documentary about the CPR. It looks as though it was filmed in the 40s or 50s, but it's interesting, nonetheless.

That's a great piece Marlon. I also get a laugh out of the Buster Keaton film on the same page as he goes across Canada on his Railroading adventure.

Having lived in Field and Revelstoke I find the NFB short very interesting. Amazing how many times this film ends up on this forum.
Not complaining as I could watch it any time and never tire of it.
If there is any doubt this was filmed by the National Film Board, just listen to the music (dreadful) At school in the 50's we sat through so many of these type of films, at least it beat listening to the teacher.
Always remember it's CPR (railway) not CPRR .

A little off topic.
Definitely filmed after 1956. In the pictures of the main street in the early part of the film, I caught a glimpse of a 1956 (Ford) Meteor, (the car with the curving V shaped grill). My first car was a 1955 Ford Fairlaine 2 Door Hardtop that the original owner had fitted that same Meteor grill into. I will NEVER forget that car. Black exterior with Powder Blue leather upholstery, power windows and seats, push button radio, automatic transmission, Twin teardrop shaped spot-lamps at the base of the windshield posts and a killer Continental Kit on the back. Cost me $1400 in 1958. I traded it in on a 1962 Ford Falcon just before I got married in August '62 and got $800 trade-in.
I've had a few cars since then. Still got the same wife and we just celebrated 49 years on Aug. 11. I think that I'll keep her 'cause I'm gettin' to old to break in a new one. LOL
