I can speak for the Kato Locomotives, on all my Kato's (& Kato Atlas) the Kaydee Whisker Scale Head is a direct fit, I don't even think about it.  I use medium length, but big plows are pushing it & may need a long someday, so far I've beek OK with bending trip pins.

If you look close you can see the 'whiskers' on the coupler, before I sharpied them out.

Kadee couplers on Kato HO locos and Superliners?
Posted by trainsBuddy on Thursday, August 4, 2011 2:40 PM

Hi,

Has anyone tried huge fudging Kadee whisker couplers to Kato HO Superliners? Kadee does not offer any standard conversion kits for Kato Superliner cars. Also Do Kato HO locos have pockets that would take Kadee couplers?

I would be fine with Kato kinematic couplers since I would rarely break up a passenger train - but I still need standard coupler on the locomotive end. Besides, I can't figure out how to uncouple mated Kato couplers!!!!! Bang Head

p.s. I usually use #5 on my passenger cars, but looking at the wide open area between Superliners, due to Diaphragm sitting so high, I think scale couplers will be better because it's so visible. My locos use scale couplers and mated to #5 on passenger, I have not had any decoupling yet. Maybe scale on scale couplers will be as reliable?
