Fred,
One of your cousins loves my model railroad room in our basement...the outside door is left open during the summer and he loves checking everything out. One day I walked in the railroad room and there he was on top of the layout...not sure who was more startled, your cousin or me. But I'm afraid that I had to put a door on the room so he can no longer visit the train room but he still roams around the basement doing whatever cats like to do. For lack of a better word, your cousin is called "cat." He's a pretty nice guy!

wabash2800 I am not sure why the image was removed. Anyone have an idea? I hosted it at imageshack with my account.

Edit: I got it set back up. I guess I had deleted it from the photo bucket. duh Sorry Fred!
Be glad if that is ALL of your hobby he is interested in!
Chasing trains is a whole 'nother matter!
My cat likes to shred papers and magazines, so be glad yours only sits on them!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Spooky the Princess (my Maine Coon) and Uff-Dah the Viking (Norwegian Forest Cat) are happier than little clams that Daddy is back working on the railroad and using the kitchen table as a workbench. All those wonderful little parts (and cabeese) to steal while Daddy has his back turned.

Resting on the keyboard? That's nothing. Check out this cat that actually plays the piano. The owner is a piano teacher. OK, the kitten can't read notes and probably doesn't know what she is doing but she loves the attention.
However,
Go into the back yard & pick a little 'mint' leaf, play & stick it to a piece of masking tape (leave some sticky side out), & then toss it saying "get it, get it, get it!!!" Kitty will self entertain for a while, especially if said masking tape has any 'stick' left in it, & the paw goes back-n-forth with a klingon. Yes, happy & entertained Kitty!!!
... It's just that easy...

Sitting on your MRR magazine???
Catastrophic !
As those of you who are owned by a cat already know, they will lay down on anything that you are trying to read, sprawl across a keyboard if you are trying to type, and generally make a nuisance of themselves if you dare to ignore them.
BlownoutCylinder,
Well, he is on a 'MousePad' & also has that face, (or expression), the one that says, 'Don't *%@#'n bother me, I'm comfortable here. It's funny how you can learn their expressions. That is a nice shot.

Wabash,
I'm glad you let your cat do that. I used to let my tom cat look at my trains, but after shredding up a magazine with his teeth (not an issue of MR, thankfully) and spilling a jar of blue paint off of a table onto tan carpeting, his helping me days were regulated to outdoors only.
The odd thing is the female cats don't bother me when I'm working, unless they are hungry.

Wabash2800,
That is a neat shot! I know my kitty seems to like to help me support the hobby too. She is a female & a vet told me once that they are more attentive & like to interact more with 'their' (human care takers) than males. As your picture shows they seem 'to Know' our next move before we do. Mine was suggesting I add (interested in & almost footing) a sprue of ladders & grabs to a Branchline boxcar I was working on the other day. Heh heh..
Cats tend to take over anything you're interested in. They also tend to urinate on the same things when you tick them off. So be nice to the KAT and feed him lots of tuna or else.

No, but I think he was hoping there would be something on the Chessie cat... <G> but you can see by my avatar that Fred seems to take possession of anything railroad. I don't let him down in the basement for that reason... Neither one of those photos were posed.
Is there an article on cat-enary? Whisker couplers?
at lest Fred didn't think it was a litterbox
