track nails or track screws

Nail driver made by company called Excel - try your local hobby shop or Walthers catalog - of course Randel Iam assuming that you are modelling in H.O. and this information pertains to said scale. Remember your local hobby shop is your best best for any and all info re modelling - I've yet to run accross hobby shop owner that wasnt honest and eager to assist me and point me in the right direction - after all its in his interest to keep you as a customer cause believe me once hooked model railroading will be your hobby of choice for quite some time -

Randel:
You didn't say what type of track you're using.
If you have Lionel or other toy type track, Lionel used to specify a screw size (I last used them back in the 50's - I think O-27 was 2-56 by 3/16" - don't bet on it).
If you're in HO or N I would try to use nails - very small ones that used to be called cigar box nails. You should be able to pu***hem in with long nosed pliers. Leave a bit sticking up.
Please don't try to put them into plywood -- the glue or something makes it impossible.
You could also use spikes - a nail with an offet head. I put them in on the outside of the rails between the ties.

I would use nails to secure track but instead of hammering nails use a nail driver - nail driver is special tool that holds nail while you push it in place. Hammering is not recommended as it would disturb your scenery etc. Ive never heard of anyone using screws to hold down track - adhesives yes but screws no way. Hope above of some help to you - Atlas make track nails right size for track - keep on trackin

I am looking for information on screws or nails to secure track to the layout table.I prefer screws over nails.But,i do not know if the screws are available.Any information would very helpful please.Thank You:Your Railroad Friend Randel B.
