If anyone knows of a thread here on the 3 x 7 HCB Erie RR at Herbton can you link me to it, if it exsists?

Agreed that Kato Unitrack is expensive, but it is extraordinarily reliable. The system offers a wide choice of turnouts, radii and straight sections, but no flex track - maybe its biggest draw back. With a little effort, its plastic look can be enhanced to be closer to the real thing.
I am using Unitrack myself, but for a specific reason. I am building a layout consisting of mini-modules, which are connected to each other only via Kato´s Unijoiner system. It works nicely!
For the great welcome to the forum and the advise in my first post. At this point i have again subscribed to MRR mag, ordered a Walthers N scale catalog and ordered several back issues of MRR that have track plans of interest and layouts of interest. I am considering a HCD layout but also considering a little larger such as 3 x 10 if a particular layout plan appeals to me (Jan 2001 Pennsylvania RR MIddle Division) i like the size and it has a lot of what i want in my railroad, city scape, industry, staging ..... however the back side i would consider more industry and a smaller yard. Also considering from the Dec 2010 MRR the Erie RR built on the HCB door.... and from March 2005 Don Culps HAVEAPHEW Central. Hope the back issues come today.
Been looking up and down the Calvinwood blog and posts. Lots of great info there. I haven't decided whether is will do DCC yet but donsidering it. If i do, what is your opinion of the Kato Unitrak ? Atlas code 55 just as good and will work with DCC ok? Just seems like if you need a bunch of turnouts, Unitrak gets pretty darn expensive.
