Creating a Work Order
Posted by Eric97123 on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 3:12 PM

I was playing around last night with Excel creating a “Work Order” for pick up and deliveries around my layout so I could print off work orders and I am wondering if I am missing anything or should go about it differently.  The way I have it so far is to have each field is done as a pull down item that feeds off a different sheet so I can updated my roster/industries without having to change a lot of info. For each location it list if the car is picked up or dropped off and its current status.  This would an exampel of what I have in mind.  Once I get some input on any changes I will post or link the spread sheet for use by everyone.

I model CSX also.  A year or two ago somebody posted an actual CSX work order.  What you've done is very close to the real thing, at least as far as what modelers are interested in.  Not that it matters but the CSX code for Deliver-Loaded was PL short for 'place'. The code for pick up was, PU.  If you have multi spot industries you might want a column for the actual car spot at an industry.
