I have locked the resurrected thread because it is merely piling on sentiment about a long-gone show. There are current fish to fry, folks!

dknelson MAbruce: Sometimes it's legit. Maybe an update to an old topic or a reasonable question to an old subject (perhaps found in a search). Indeed we should be encouraging more, not fewer, uses of the search function on threads before someone starts a new one, and if someone has something to add to an old thread, no harm done. It's not like many of these discussions actually ever resolve anything! Dave Nelson

On a particular music forum I'm on it will come up with a list of posts that have similar..if not exactly the same..titles as yours...and..depending on how far back it goes gives you the option of using that thread instead...tres simple

There's nothing wrong with resurrecting an old thread if you add new information to it, no matter how many years have passed. Many subjects are indeed timeless. However, I think that the OP's point of this current thread is being largely missed by most responders. It's not simply the fact that the old thread hasn't seen the light of day in years. It is the fact that the show, the subject of the original thread, has been off the air for nearly half a decade (that's indicated in a 2006 post!), so citing just when it was on, or its topics, is now totally pointless. Anyone reading completely through the original posts should have immediately seen this, so I can't understand why they would then bring the thread back to life.

Sometimes, the poster can't, or won't, use the search feature. Or the results can't be found. There were issues with the community search feature when MR changed the format of the forums and the search results were pretty much of a mess. They've since addressed those issues. NOW, if they could just fix the speed issue. My home page(s) are 5 tabs. I've noticed that, depending on the time of day, the forum tabs are the last to load... VERY last. In a thread posted by Dana Kawala, the staff was working on that issue.

Some of us like the pre-war era, some the transition era, and some like 2006 for some reason.

I guess it is a variant on an old theme..the search for the One Truly Unique Thread Goes Ever On...
Hey...just be glad it was not all kinds of same ol' same ol' threads that got posted..again and again...
Sheesh. You would think with those complaining about tired same-old, same-old topics getting newly posted again and again would be happy that somebody actually searched the community for a thread on their topic.
I think a lot of old threads resurface simply because someone has done a "search" and found a thread they'd like to respond to, not realizing the last date of the last posting was before Amelia Erhart disappeared!
They may have a new question on topic in the thread, or want to respond to what was posted.
Some may be teh OP who resurects the thread as maybe their question wasn't answered right the first time. A bump never hurts.
Others are, indeed perhaps just bored and decide to post and bump a thread.
Also, not everyone is on this site on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis, so If they back-track to see what they missed and want to comment on, they may go back a ways and end up resurecting threads many of us considered long ago "played out".
Who knows...but I have learned to pay attention to hte OP date of posting before I respond.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
I didn't know it was an ancient thread or I wouldn't have even bothered to reply. That was my fault.

"We took those Cascade Green engines for granted. Every Age. All of us. And in the blink of an eye, the era ended as quickly as it began."
I've seen this happen from time to time. A set of random ancient topics get bumped back to the front page because someone is board, wants attention, or is looking to boost their post count. Well, that's the only reasons I can think of. Best to ignore them. What gets me is how many other members don't see this and post to them as though the topic was started yesterday.

Johnny, I missed something. What are you referring to?
Re: Old threads.
I don't mind seeing an older thread pop up if it contains information that a few or many on here find useful. Someone brought back the "Gleam" thread a few months back and as a result I was able to look over info that I had not considered for my layout.

When a thread is about a show that went off the air 5 years ago why restart it.
