Removing Cab Bachmann Spectrum HO 2-8-0 Consolidation?
Posted by Isambard on Saturday, July 17, 2004 2:50 PM
Referring to Ian Rice's article in Steam Locomotives Projects and Ideas, complied by John Pryke, in which Ian modifies a Spectrum 2-8-0, it says "The cab is held in place with a screw inside the cab roof and two retaining clips . Remove the screw and pop the clips out of the holes."
Examining my 2-8-0 after having removed the drive system as instructed, I cannot find the referenced screw or retaining clips, or any evident way of freeing the cab. Perhaps there are production variants different from Ian's model?
I would appreciate help.
Thanks

Request cancelled. Dummy that I am I hadn't pulled the entire drive system apart!

Cancel that cancellation! Now that I've accessed and removed the screw inside the cab roof, I have yet to find the clips and holes, despite using a magnifying glass. Where are they?

Aha! After more magnifying glass examination, I was able to remove the cab by gentle prying at the bottom of each of the cab walls and wiggling it free. Seems to be a press fit, no sign of clips or holes.
