Many of the original NWSL motors actually came from a company that made 8-track players (remember those?) in several sizes. Once that supply ran dry in the early 1990s, NWSL had a heck of a hard time finding similar motors.

Digikey is a fantastic place to find micro motors. They've got a MUCH larger selection than any model supplier!

it could be that I reveal nothing new. A source for high-quality motors are discarded CD players and CD-ROM drives. I dismantled a broken down CD-player and took out the small disk-drive motor. A long time ago I bought a Mehano (made in Yugoslavia) Pacific with a 3-pole motor for a few bucks. It ran terribly and I put it away. I replaced the 3-pole motor wirh the CD-player motor and now my Pacific runs like a charm.It starts moving very slowly at 3-4 Volts.
I have video tapes that show prototype Pacifics in all kind of situations and my orphan Pacific behaves just like the real ones.
