New Peco Code 83
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, July 12, 2004 2:41 PM
Has anybody seen or used the new Peco Code 83 track line that I saw advertised in this month's MR? The ad claims that the switches and track are based on US prototype. If they are good looking, it will add another option for quality switches in code 83.

I saw their initial line of #5 and #6 switches at the National Train Show. Very nice looking, complete with their traditional spring throw. These are designed to look like American prototype switches. They have abandoned the constant curved radius track through the diverging route. These look like Walthers Shinohara switches; they just look and work better. Not available yet but will be in under a month.

Not abandoned, they will continue to produce their code 75 and code 100 track with the curved radius diverging track. I guess they will be selling a whole lot less of it in the US though, just keep flogging it to us European types.[;)]

I just hope they introduce some curved turnouts in the new code 83 range - I have no end of problems with my Walthers #6.5 curved turnouts.
