Any suggestions on HO track code?

You can go with Peco, they make some fine switches. PEco switches are nice because they don't require switch machines to hold the points tight, as they have a snap action style mechanism thats much more sightly than Atlas's version. The draw back, and may not even be noticeable to some, is that Peco switches follow a European geometry standard so their diverging turns are more radial like as opposed to the North American standard which turn a little but straighten out a little. My opinion is based on several factors. First, how good are you at laying track. If your joints are smooth and the track is over all well laid, thats one point. Second, does detail matter much to you? If you meet that criteria I would recommend Micro Engineering switches and track, at best code 83 on the mains and for great looks code 70 on the sidings. Like Peco, Micro Engineering switches have the same snap action.
If you aren't very good at laying track and you don't care about looks, like the other guy said, stay with Atlas code 100 nickel silver track.

I think for what you are doing you should stay with Atlas Code 100 and Atlas Customline turnoutr.

I am now upgrading from Atlas snap track and a small layout to about 8x12. All existing track and turnouts will be scraped but I'm not sure about what track code to use or brand. Peco seems to be the popular brand at my local hobby shop but I don't want to go that route just because that is what they sell. Any suggestons?
