Yes I realize that - I was just commenting on the release of the Trains Magazine archives on DVD. CACOLE - Check your conversations as I cannot locate where you send private emails.

1train1

I just bought the trains mags on DVD and it is pretty interesting....

Trains Magazine on DVD is not what the OP is asking for -- he's looking for videos that are tours of various model railroads around the country.

Check your PMs -- I have all 4 of the original MR volumes on DVD as well as Allen Keller's Great Model Railroads series up through number 46.

Yeah , I know , but i sure do like those old Layout tours. I remember when the 1st one came out and it was labeled #1, i thought how cool , there will be more..  To me #'s 1 & 2 were the best , and as I said , they are wearing out.

I think that Allen Keller pretty much took over that area of interest a long time ago. He has something like 60-70 videos/DVDs out there, covering the best layouts that are - or have been - around over the past two decades.

It takes quite a bit of time, effort and expense to create these. If you compare those early MR Layout Tour videos with Keller's work you'll see why MR essentially withdrew from that field and haven't re-released the old videos as DVDs. Of course, snippets of layouts are featured in both Tracks Ahead and the Dream-Plan-Build series of DVDs from MR.

This morning I watched Model Railroader Video Layout tour #3.  Its worn out.  Wish the nice folks at  MR would re-release these , say one DVD with all 4 tours.   These layouts are classics and timeless..
