This is not any more interesting than any of the countless other UP-bashing posts in the countless threads that plague these forums.

I think it's time for me to move on to other forums where this childishness is a bit more controlled. I'll check back in the future to see if we've grown up a bit.

I do not dislike UP and I do not see a problem with a company protecting its logo, trademarks, etc. with licensing agreements. But any way you cut it, UP is mismanaged and has lost its focus, along with plenty of other corporations. See sUPer-vision thread on Trains.com for my true feelings.

The bottom line is profitability and enhancing share holder value in any stock owned corporation. It's what is called net earnings per share and obviously this logo may be contributory factor to earnings. Lets see how many
of us modelers are also UP shareholders.

lets see here. the money coming in from licensing their logo wont even cover the cost of the fuel that the UP uses in one day.

the cost of the lawyers to sue the model manufcturers for stealing from UP is less than the ammount of money they spend on fuel in a week.


how do you know that that guy is even a shareholder?

where is this "tons of money" that the UP is supposedly making from us modelers?? it is mere pennies compaired to what others charge for the use of their logos.

It would be interesting to see it those posts were made by the same people who floated the licensing issue the last time (techncially there was one post and two responses). Somebody brought up the "evils" of the licensing program when it became widely known 6-8 months ago and the responses from the stockholders could basically be summed up as "go away and leave us alone".

This is incredible, and dumb, Why must we continue this UP thing? it would be so nice to be able to just talk model trains, is that asking too much? apparently so, from this group.
