Thanks - I've come across this manufacturer on the internet but have not found anybody who stocks them.

Cheers

Thanks Maxman. I found the site and the item but they do not ship to uk.

I am contacting their UK people to see if they can get them for me.

There are some great spare parts on this site.

A company called Smokey Valley Railroad Products made handrail kits for many Athearn models. They were brass and  wire. Don't know if they are still in business.

Are you looking for Athearn handrails, or do you want to do-it-yourself?  According to the following website (http://www.hoseeker.org/assemblyexplosionAthearn/Assembly%20Explosion%20Athearn%20U28%2030%2033B%201973.jpg), the handrail set is part number 34229.  This seems to be available through Athearn: http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH34229.  It appears that the price has escalated since the drawing part list was made.

Building Athearn U 30 C locomotive

I'm am a UK based USA HO diesel modeller (caught the bug while living close to railroad in chicago). I have around 20 locomotives and am progressively converting engines I buy on ebay from DC to DCC with sound (using german made locksound chips - very good!) and rewiring lighting.

Its great fun.

I have fallen in love with an Athearn U 30 C Milwaulkee Road running number 5651 shell ( found an actual picture of real loco on Flickr). I have acquired a chassis and am now looking for handrails, boggies and motor.

Seems handrails are very difficult to find. Does anyone know of source or for instructions to make handrails?
