Motley, BLI turn around time is normally in the 3 month time frame. Times I had to send some of my engines back have been repaired in the 6 to 9 week range.

One of the things they use to do (I don't know if they still do this) is they would send me the needed part for free if I wanted to repair the engine my self. My self, I rather do the repair work instead of waiting 6 to 9 weeks.

While I will find fault the QC in China, I can find no fault in there services department.

I'm really happy to read this as I am about to acquire, for very little money, a used BLI J from a friend that might need repair work.

Thanks for posting this

I have found the service department at BLI to be very good and helpful.

Glad to hear your experience was good also!

The sad thing is that more and more people are coming out of the woodwork to tell of their experiences with such manufacturers such as MTH or BLI upon failure of the product.

Many deemed these more expensive products to be "superior" to such lower cost locos, yet are finding out they can have the same issues of failures as lower cost locos.

But it is good to kow that any manufacturer will service what they sell, preferably in a reasonable time frame, and at minimal or no cost to the consumer.

Geeez, well I'm hearing all these great service experiences with BLI. I just had to send my MTH Challenger in, they told me it was gonna be 5-6 weeks.

I think my next steam purchase will be a BLI, maybe when they release the ATSF Modernized 2-10-2. But who knows when it will ship.

For out of warranty work there is a flat fee of $45 US and they paid the return postage of $25.65.

The board and sound chip were fried.

I am just so happy that my locomotive is back up and running.

WEll, good for you.

Glad to know another satisfied customer with the service they received after the sale upon failure of the product.

You didn't specify so I have to ask: How much did it cost you?

BLI Repair Service.
Posted by don7 on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 4:27 PM

Hi, just wanted to commed BLI on their excellent service.

I mailed my J1 Hudson to BLI for repair on the 22nd of November, BLI sent me an e-mail on Dec 14th that they had received my locomotive and that the backlog of repairs indicated they would inspect the engine in three or four weeks. I received an e-mail on 22nd Dec that the locomotive had been repaired and would be mailed back to me. I received the engine today the 5th of January.

Engine is running great. A note was attached indicating the repairs made.

Thank you BLI for your quick service.

I celebrated by ordering another BLI steam engine today.

I had been searching for a UP MT 4-8-2 for quite a while. I had sent out e-mails to a number of hobby shops and today I received a message from a Hobby Shop that they still had one of these engines in stock if I was still interested. I immediately phoned to make payment.
