New Alco C-415 model
Posted by sparkingbolt on Sunday, July 4, 2004 5:12 PM
I was looking at a website that stated that Mehano may be coming out with an upgraded version of the C-415. Model power used to make it, now it looks like IHC is. I've seen them advertised.

Has anyone bought the IHC version and if so is is upgraded? How's it run? It obviously still has the clunky handrails, but does it have a better drive system? I'd appreciate any light on the subject. Thanks, Dan

I personally don't put much stock in anything that IHC imports. I can't speak on the running qualities of their C-415; their paint scheme accuracies are totally out to lunch!
An example is their "New Haven" C-415. The NYNH&H had about as many C-415s as did American Airlines.

I believe the tooling for this Model Power / IHC model is actually from a long defunct firm, American Train and Track. At least at that time the wheels were the wrong size. So you are looking at 30+ year old standards of die sinking. I also seem to recall they took some liberties with some of the measurements
I am sure a new version would be much more accurate.
