Greg,

My first layout design was for an 11 x 12 room. I am interested in modern day railroading and I like operations rather than marking off miles on the mainline. I made up a bridge line subsidiary to the RF&P as a setting and designed a plan for an 8.5 x 12 space to permit a 30 inch isle along the side where the room entracne is located. I had only started building the plan when my son was born and I took everything down then. As I recall, the mainline radius is 24 inches.

If you send me your e-mail address, I will see if I can dig up the plan and send you a copy. I believe you could reduce the curve radius to 18 inches and get it into the space you have. It is more likely that you will see an overall concept which you like but you elect to put the details in other places. Either way, I wish you good luck. - Ed

In this instance, the choice is entirely yours! One suggestion, get John Armstrong's book on track planning, available from Kalmbach, before you start sawing and hammering.

The Best Set up for a 10 x 12 Train Room

I have a room in my house which is a 10 x 12 foot size room. I plan to do a HO Logging Railroad and a mainline or two.
Any other suggestions on the best way to set up this room or railroads that would fit in this size room.

Thanks,
Greg
