Gentlemen,
Please keep in mind the primary intent of the WPF thread - i.e. to show pictures of your layouts. Any "extended" secondary conversations - however interesting - should probably be delegated to either PMs (conversations) or a whole new thread so that the thread doesn't get off track.
Thanks for your understanding in the matter.
Regards,
Tom

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
cudakenWould you mind posting some more shoots of your streets and how wide you made them with parking?
These are my standards for streets and parking, 50s vintage:
Road width 24 ft (slightly compressed, but it works for me)
Parking spaces Parallel - 8 ft x 20' Perpindicular - 9 ft x 16 ft
Sidewalks 10 ft for wide; 5 ft for narrow (Smalltown sidewalks are a good ready made plastic sidewalk with a lot of detail like manholes, drains, curb cuts for alleyways)http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/699-7000Curbs Evergreen 6x6 stryene stripCorner radius use a 25 cent coin (USA money) (if Smalltown sidewalk is not used)
Stripes 3/32" or less - I have used narrow drafting tape for this with mixed results, probably because the tape is old. The best thing is to paint the white or yellow stripe color first, lay the tape, spray a clearcoat on the tape to seal it, paint the road color and remove the tape hoping that the paint did not wick under it. Touch up with a fine brush as necessary. Another method is to use a paint marker that you can get at a craft store, but getting a white paint color dense enough to cover dark asphalt color paint is difficult.
The street in my photos is half width on the edge of the layout; I cropped the facia out of the photos.

Hello yea Ken That's the one. It's been a long time since I seen a wagon with the the wood paneling. It reminded me of the movie National Lampoon's Vacation. Have a nice day Frank
I came here to see train pics.

G Paine,
I think that green Chevy "Hatchback" is supposed to be a model of the mid- 70's Nova. I think that was the last body style before it was taken out of the line-up until that mid 80's Japanese (Nissan?) thing they called a Nova.

Frank you lost me, are you talking about the wagon sitting beside the bike? If so, I bought the 74 Yorker for it's 440. But the thing drove so well, I used it for a year as a driver. Best part, when I wanted to change lanes, no one tried to cut me off! Here in the St Louis area, you turn on your turn single so you could change lanes, that is to let the person behind you to know to speed up!
Not when I was driving the Land Barrage as she was called.

Hello You guys have some really cool cars. On and off the layout.
George, nice little collection you have. I was going to get a 67 GTX Convertible, but after i made up my mind to buy I had a few to many and forgot to order it. Would you mind posting some more shoots of your streets and how wide you made them with parking? I may have time to work on my streets this week. Title is going down in the kitchen finally and it is going quick!
DC My self I never like the 73's and 74's Cuda's. By the way the 74 is the rarest year. I did not like the big bumpers that they had.
Here is my 70 Cuda
Ken
Ken, is there room for an engine in that red R/T with all that big blower on top?
I do not have too many muscle cars on the 1980 part of my layout, but here they are
The Firebird TransAm is a Praline (now Busch) model, (note that the young woman is driving and the guy has shotgun )
The 1977 Dodge Coronet 440 Convertible and Plymouth GTX started as the same car. The GTX is a Malibu International diecast I found at WalMart a couple of years ago; I repainted one of them to look like the Dodge Coronet that my wife's family owned when we were dating.
This is a little toy hotrod I picked up somewhere a long time ago; made in China. It is a bit under scale, but real hotrods of this vintage I have seen are not that large either.
This is another hotrod I made from cars that came with the Tyco Honest Sams Used Car Lot kit. I chopped the top, modified the bumpers and painted flames on the sides
This is the wanabe muscle car. He put fat tires on the back, painted with green metalflake paint and a wide racing stripe. Won't beat Ken's Mustang or Cuda, maybe not even my nephews 289 Ford Falcon. It is a Magnussen resin kit, sold about 15 years ago as "1977 Hatchback"; it looks like a Chevy Malibu ??
cudaken Really, you sure? Cuda Ken
Really, you sure?
Well....not that one!
The 73-74 Cuda is my favorite classic car. Love those round tail lights. I just couldn't afford to restore one, let alone buy one...if I could have found one.
Thanks for the car stuff.

Now that I am done cheating, I as well am a fan of Mustangs. I have driven a KR GT 500, got into it with a 454 71 Vet. Chewed it up and spit it out. I all so had a 68 Cobra Mustang, it was 1 of the first 50 built, the 427 Medium Riser in it. After the first 50 they had 428's CJ I believe. My 68 Road Runner (63 426 Maxie Wedge in it) would kick it's butt till 85 MPH. After that, well it was over. When I got out of the Army I could not take the Mustang and Road Runner home, I kept my Road Runner and still have it. On the other hand, if I only knew how rare that Mustang was and what it would be worth someday I would have kept both.
P&S I never seen a real one with the strips, and I know why!
George, what you except with my screen name being Cuda Ken
Glad some of you have enjoyed my small HP car collection. My wife was total dumb founded when she saw they where not all MOPAR.
Thanks, John. Those plastic Walthers cars look decent when all the details are on, different windows and the interior is spruced up a little bit.
Lee: N scale, huh? FANTASTIC!
cudaken I like the GT 500, but I think the Charger R/T could take it.
Very Mopar of you Ken!
Okay, I clicked on the pic and up-sized it. I could see then that it was a '67. Those stripes were an option on the '67 but not very many people liked them. I thought they looked hideous myself.
P&Slocal Cuda Ken, Is that baby blue beast in the line up at the speed shop a '66 SS 396 or is it just a Chevelle? Who makes / made that car? I hate the color, but love the car. In the past I have owned a '67 Impala SS and a '67 SS 396. Would love to find one of each in 1:87.

It is a Hot Wheels 67 SS Chevell with a 396. Bought that one from at K Mart. Strips look like they are for a 67 or so 442 so I have it tucked away where just the front shows.

ChadLRyan CudaKen, Is that a '69 Cougar??? Who made/makes that? I gotta have some!!!!! I'd almost consider some criminal activity for a chance for a full scale '70 CJ Eliminator Cougar!!!!! That rocks man!!!

Chad, the Cougar is a 1968. It is made by Johnny Lighting. Try the Marts and Toys Are Us they carry the cars. I bought my on line from a company called Die Cast Alley. They re not 1/87th scale, but 1/64th.
cudaken First is a so so shot of the Speed Shops parking lot for customers. I like the GT 500, but I think the Charger R/T could take it. Next is a bronze 69 Coronet R/T Convertible and a 63 Split Widow Vett. And Finally the truck Drivers parking lot. Cuda Ken

Just a thought Ken. If you ripped up that pesky railroad track you could have a lot more room to display cars...
I have figured out what is wrong with my brain! On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!
Great work, Lee. Your river especially.

Thank you. I "think" that's the '28 Model A. It's a Jordan.

I'll second that. That's an amazing looking scene! Love the scenery and trees.

David V again I am impressed with your modeling. What I like the best is your ballast.
Greg, I like you store interior, is that a rifle standing up my the shelf.
Well have no good shoots this weekend. Simon 1966, his sons and I went to the Boeing Train show. Couple of quick shoots of my finds. Got the 6 cars for $18.00.
For anyone that read my Brass Track posting, I found 19 brass turn outs for $10.00.
Few pictures of the cars I have added to the bench. I need to get off my dead butt and make some roads for them.
My favorite car I got is the White and Red 69 Coronet R/T Convertible. Very striking color combination, but for the life of me I could not get a good shoot of it.
The latest progress on my ExactRail PS 4427'sAfter adding end sills and ladder supports at the end of the car. After adding ladder grabs and grab irons on the end of the cars. Each car took about an hour to add the grabs, the most tedious and frustrating part of building this car. After adding the Discharge Gates on hopper bays and Airline along the side of the car.Adding the roof and trough hatch to the car. Thanks for looking!!
