Great pics! I have a great fondness for 3985. She stopped overnight in Ogden, UT a few years ago. She rolled in in the early afternoon, but I was unable to get off work to get up and see her in the daylight...BUT I left straight after work and made it to Ogden about 12:30 that night. After talking with the custodial staff who were on break from cleaning the train, they let us through the gate and walk the entire length of the train! It was a great expirience! I have never stood by something that massive.

Its great she's out on the rails again! I hope we can all keep her there. Even with all the anger that has been floating around about the UP, I still have to admire them for thier steam program...

I saw the Challenger once before but it still amazes me. We followed it for about 20 miles but was unable to get any good pics. Maybe another time I hope.

so you have that problem in the US too, it always amazes me when some railfan photographers put their camera on a pedestal they get kind of "photorage" shoving little kids and cursing people who accidently walk in "their" picture, I wittnessed a little riot at a station here in holland as RR police told the "fans" that they had to stay on the platform and were not allowed to walk on the tracks to take pictures.

I decided to put this on a new thread but anyway here is a link to my album. At the bottom of the page is the pictures of the UP Challenger crossing over the Kate Shelly High Bridge west of Boone. I could not believe the number of people down there! Amazing though how rude most of them were. I parked my car out of the of everyone but had one guy complain about the glare off of my car. He almost went for a swim in the Des Moines river[:D]. He left me alone after realizing I was serious.[:D] Altogether was fun though. Got to spend some time with my son and Dad. Enjoy the pictures.
