if you have a normal DC powerpak, you sou should be able to do a reset, and also give it a running test as it will run on DC. If it doesnt run on DC but powers up, it may be an electrical connection. Resetting should put it back on throttle 03

And don't force the plug. It only fits one way. Take your time.

  Is it on address 3?

More than likely it is the plug, they can be a pain. If the plug is not in right (did you line up the detentes on either side of the plug) or tight, the headlight will not work.

Your EZ will run a sound BLI with no problems. I did the same for years.

Almost certainly the plug if it makes sounds, the tender light goes on in reverse, but it won't move.

Are you trying it on address #3? What sounds is it making? Is the tender plug in very good or just barely snug? Does the headlight turn on and off?

Which address were you using?  If the engine you have was previously used and assigned an address other than 03 or its cab number, you will need to get to a DCC system that will allow you to reset the engine.

Maybe the instructions that came with the engine allow you to use a hidden jumper in the tender to do a reset.  Be sure to follow those instructions....especially to power down the tracks and then power them up again before you try to run the engine on the new address.  That will be '03'.

As long as the engine is making sounds, it is getting enough power to start to move.  It may stop immediately due to the oil or to something else, but the sounds should also stop.

Finally, did you have to put the tender and engine together?  Did you fully seat the plug on the tether?  It must be quite firmly seated, right to the back wall of the receptacle.  That means lots of pressure, best done with the spread tines of needle-nosed pliers.
