If you are not already aware there are many mfg. of quality resin kits for the era's you mentioned. Some of them are Speedwitch Media, Sunshine Models(takes a few months to fill order, but have very good kits), and Funaro & Camerlengo ,to name a few. Most have the type of cars you are looking for. I re-read the 04/10 article by A.S. "Building resin freight car kits" and have decided to take a dable into..well, once I get started anyways. I do plan on building at least one Westerfield Bx-11 kit (with original height roof) and decaling it for my free-lance. The article has kind of led me towards ATSF type cars, but I'm looking for other suggestions on resin car kits. I have yet to look at my LHS, but I know they have them so I probably won't untill I'm ready to start building some cars.
In particular I'm looking for more late 20'- 30's designed cars in generally as-built form with he addition of more modern (40's/early 50's) safety and brake equipment. I love the look of single-sheathed box cars and double-sheathed, and some ARA designs (I plan on having a few 1932 ARA 40' R-T-R cars).
Car types are mainly box cars, some stock cars for general use, gondolas (also plan on having one or two war-emergency gons), and maybe some small reefers in the 36' range for dairy products.
I will have R-T-R and kit cars for other RR's, but I'm concentrating more on cars for my free-lance since that's so open.
