You don't say what scale your locomotive is. Atlas makes locomotives in N, HO, and O. In N the sideframes are NOT separate pieces. Atlas has a website www.atlasrr.com and forums in N, HO and O. Suggest you ask on the forum for your scale.

I have an Atlas GP40 and I want to remove the truck side frames for painting. What is the best way to remove them, are the pressed on, or are they attached with a screw or fastner? I can't tell from the exploded view diagram how they are attached.
