Favorite movies?
Posted by AggroJones on Thursday, June 24, 2004 8:36 PM
It kinda is railroad related because I am a modeler and I'm asking the question.

We all come from diverse backgrounds and I'm curious to what movies others like to watch.

Some of my top 10 favorite movies include....

"Undercover Brother" with Eddie Griffin, Dave Chapelle

"Hamlet" with Kenneth Branagh

"Training Day" with Denzel Washington

"X2--X-men United"
with Hugh Jackman

"John Q" with Denzel Washington

"Gangs of New York" with the kid from Titanic

"Hulk"

"American Pie 1"

"Terminator 2"

"Being misunderstood is the fate of all true geniuses"

Apollo 13
Das Boot (German submarine drama set during WW2 - gives an insight as to how the other side lived and one of the best submarine films ever made)
The Hunt For Red October
M*A*S*H - both series and film versions, though the series is better in my opinion.
The World is not Enough - best Bond film of recent years
Good Morning Vietnam - both funny and moving
Enemy at the Gates
Silver Streak - used to watch this all the time when I was younger, still need to buy a set of streamliner coaches....

These are all I can think of at the moment, but that's probably a representative sample of my DVD collection!

Ta462, actually mines a 68, It was black until I tore it down, It's going to sport a 402 CID big block and RS hidden headlights and probably be painted black again with a white SS bumble bee stripe on the nose. I have owned the car 17 years. First car I ever bought.

Matt and TA462 How can not mention Bullitt with the chase scene?

Better off Dead removed any doubt that I should paint my '67 RS/SS black with a white stripe.

The War of the Worlds - still my favorite. A remake is supposedly in the works... we'll see
Alien - probably the last horror movie that really scared me!
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Frankenstein
Dracula - the Bela Lugosi version
Forbidden Planet
Star Wars - The first one (episode 4) is still my favorite
Dirty Harry
Dr No
Animal House

I could probably keep updating this list ad infinitum. I'm sure there's a few great flicks I'm not thinking of now.

My conclusion is that the majority likes sci-fi and old "classics".

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.

Actually, I thought Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" was a better movie. [:D]
