you are stepping on a slippery slope here. For most of us stars just mean how much we spend on here and are a sore subject. (a while back we had a bad post on here that most just want to forget). Don't worry about them you'll get them over time. It's so much more rewarding when a new star pops up your not expecting so just post and enjoy learning more the hobby.

Hey Cody, do you live near Hobbitown? Yeah, I know; there are no trains in Middle Earth.

Trains, real or models. It is plane and simple. BTW I work on airplanes. [:D]

You can see where a person posts by going to their profile and "seeing" the last 10 posts.

And speaking of trains, the 3985 is in town tonight AND the RED unit of the circus train is here too. I got some more pics of the 3985 but the circus train is parked to where I really couldn't get much of a shot. I might try the other end tomorrow. BTW, I am happy to share my pics, so if anyone would like to see some just email me. [:D]

Exactly ! - in fact, if it can ONLY be "counted" it shouldn't count [:D]

Ok here's the star system:

50 posts: 1 purple star

100 posts: 2 blue stars

500 posts: 3 green stars

1000 posts: 4 orange stars

2000 posts: 5 red stars

I thought my stars were gold as opposed to orange.

Another (non-railroad) forum I participate in has an individual with over 10,000 posts. Often long, unintelligibe rants, often repeating many of his previous posts and recently, he's recently taken to making racist and religiously disparaging comments.

This is not to say I've seen anything similar in these forums by the more active participants. Just pointing out that like most things in life, it's quality, not quantity that counts.Life's not a race. When you get quality in quantity, count your blessings.

On a large (non-railroad) forum I frequent, it got so bad that they created a separate sub-forum called "Gimme My Stars" and the guys who were just getting their thrills by posting one word or one liners back and forth tended to hang out over there by themselves. Personally, I don't understand the fascination, but what do I know?

The guys with the larger post counts here seem to have gotten there with meaningful posts, as far as I can tell in my limited time here. Well, "meaningful" if you extend the term to include posts about Horribly Oversized topics. [:D]

Regards

Ed
(that was a joke, in case the inclusion of the smiley face wasn't enough to identify it!!)
