Any other modern VIA modelers?

Are there many other people modeling modern VIA Rail? If so, do you model it prototypically or free-lanced? What do you run? Personally, I have a freelanced modern VIA layout running P42's and LRC's.

Hi Tim,

VIA is too new for me - my little plastic people ride CN passenger service. But you might be interested in this:

No I don't but I posted a couple of pics of the "Spider Man Promo Diesel at Truro two days ago. Just go to my Webshots link and you'll find them under the MESS album.

Hope you find this interesting.

I am proto-lancing a couple of areas in BC and will be running a via train, my track is about 40% installed and won't be completed until the late fall or winter, so as of yet I am running nothing. I have a mountainous area that will be roughly modelling the Fraser Canyon.

Rapido Trains will be releasing a Turbo Train model later this year.

There's several VIA modellers over in the CanModelTrains Yahoo Group, including Jason Schron, the owner of Rapido Trains.

I have one Walthers VIA dome car. Does this count?
I plan on getting more when the necessary funds arise but I won't be modeling VIA by itself.

They're resin models, produced by Kaslo for Rapido Trains. As long as they're up to Kaslo's usual quality, you should have nothing to worry about. Hopefully the instructions are better than Kaslo's though(Which is a definite possibility, would be harder to get worse, and Point One's instructions are better. PO kits are also produced by Kaslo)

Rapido Trains is owned by the same person who owns the site I provided the link for. A new outfit, he has partnered with Kaslo to get the Turbo models done (as per the other posts in the thread).

Andrew: Yep,

In fact I'm buying the 3-module set that was used for those photographs. Should have it in a few days.

I have a smooth side solid blue with yellow trim VIA consist including coaches, sleepers, baggage and observation by Con Cor. Have a pair of Bachmann F40's for power. Would like to eventually add a "Silver and Blue" consist but VIA livery is hard to find here in the states. Guess I'll have to make a buy on the next trip up to Toronto.

Not VIA but I have two GO Transit trainsets. Bombardier cars, one pulled by a Walters Trainline F 40 and the other by an Atlas Geep in GO livery.

Don't think I'll move to the P-42's but one never knows. Fleet size is just getting too large, even on a club layout.

Fleet includes several U S trains including L & N's Hummingbird, N & W's Powhattan Arrow complete with J class engine, CNW four car bi-level commuter set with an F unit and a large variety of Amtrak rolling stock and power.
