Thanks for the heads up. I haven't delt with them but now I will think twice about dealing with them. It's a reminder that there are bad people out there and you have to be careful of who you deal with online. Thanks

Everytime anyone mentions Hobby Circle on a forum, I always hear negative comments. ALWAYS. If theses fools are that bad, how do they stay in business? Its mind boggling.

Probably from people who haven't heard testimony on the forums. If I hadn't had saw this I probably to would have been duped by them...Well we are the US so anyone's innocent till proven guilty. But it's a harsh reminder of what bad people can do if the alligations are true.

sounds like everyone needs to contact this company using "collect calls" to place orders or make inquiries. perhaps the BBB should also call (and record the discussion) ... terrible way to run a business.
good luck with this

cheers, krump

I've never dealt with this firm, but I think it is located in Brooklyn, NY which has many crooked camera shops. They have fancy ads in many of the photo magazines with very low prices. But try and get one of their advertised items at the listed prices! They bait and switch, add very high shipping charges, send the wrong items, charge very high restocking fees for returns, and sometimes just don't send you anything. They have been doing this for years and no one seems to be able to do anything about them. Perhaps Hobby Circle is similar in their operations.

That's the one! Unfortunately new modelers are not aware until afterwards. Same goes with
product problems or in some cases a bad e-bay misunderstanding. Then they seek out a forum
hoping to find a resolution. TOO LATE!

they are not as bad as you think FundyNorthern, I had about 5 orders from them worth app $ 2000,= through yahoo shopping, there were few things out of stock, I had 1 item I did not order but they did not charge, I send them a few e-mails, all but one were replied ( allthough one reply made the impression the replier typed worse engli***hen me )
the stuff was shipped on the date shown on my creditcard bill I had not ordered with them last 12 months, so they could have changed policy.
imho when you post about a mailorder company it is because they did you wrong, you will mostly get replies from people with same negative experiences, satisfied customers will not easily start a topic expressing their happiness that easy.
btw all these negative posts makes me wonder if I still should order from them, and if I just had been lucky dealing with them without problems.

Went to the website.

Sounds like this company is not "Grade A in the reliability" area and the manager(s) either are disorganized and/or are more concerned about the bottom line ($), rather than having to go the extra mile for customers encountering problems. [V]

I'm from New York City myself and remember these types of businesses. Due to the sheer volume of New Yorkers, vistors and tourists that go through the area that likely never heard of the problems, a business like this can stay afloat for quite a while. It's up to customers, modelers, and the BBB to put the word out! Contacting the Better Business Buearau before purchasing ANYTHING from a business via e-mail is always a good move. [;)][8D]

Modelers, by the same token, if you have a bad experience with a business that you felt did not make the effort to satisfy a problem that you've had with them then its up to you to WARN THE REST OF US by reporting the incident to the Buerau instead of saying "Ah, the heck with it!" [:(!][^]

The intent should be for the managers to clean up their act. As long as there is patronage, these jokers would have no incentive to change their methods.[V]
