Don't know about the locomotives, but the recent releases of the passenger cars are exquisite.  I bought several of SP heavyweights recently (after a four-year wait)..  The painting/finish and detailing is great; they have nice interiors and window shades (the diners have the plating on the tables); prototype-looking, operable diaphrams; adjustable couplers; and they roll smoothly.  I wouldn't think of operating them under 30-inch radius.  Being all brass, they are heavy, so your locos won't pull as many compared to the plastic models.  You can't rely on stated arrival dates.

I purchased the cars because of their quality and representing prototypes not otherwise available, at the expense of a deep hole in the wallet.

That sound very nice. I have 36" minimum radius so that would be fine and that is just the kind of details I'm looking for. I want to be able to use a set like this for real close up photography rather then perhaps daily running on the layout.

 

I received a e-mail from the Coach Yard about the engines bot being DCC or even having a plug for it. That's a shame on such expensive models.

 

About the release, I know, I think they have been pushing that date forward time after time since I first discovered them about two years ago I think.

Hi,

 

I would like to get some general info on the Coach Yard Brass engines and cars? I'm considering getting the Capitol Limited from them that is due this summer but I would like to know what you guys think of them. Are they worth the premium they charge for them?
