I agree about ModelTrainStuff (MB Klein).

I also like Tony's Train Exchange: http://www.tonystrains.com/

and Train Track: http://www.traintrack.net/

Of course, there is always e-Bay (where you can find some offerings by MTS, too!). Over a third of my 50+ locos were bought off e-Bay at great savings, like the $53 Kato IMRL SD40 I just got!

But I am using e-Bay less now that I have everything I want that's "out". I tend to reserve new locos at one of the above three dealers, and look for custom items (RI or IAIS locos or rolling stock) on e-Bay.

Right now, MTS has my order for those Atlas blue Rock geeps due out in October and the IC boxcar Atlas has just released, Tony just sent me my new P2K RI GP38-2, and I got my Atlas Master RI U30C from Train Track.

I've enjoyed buying from all three of them, and using e-Bay.

www.modeltrainstuff.com

Just down the street from Life-Like Products. If you are buying Proto, check these guys first.
I just ordered another dozen cards of P2K wheelsets yesterday. Half-price! Also good prices on various locomotives and rolling stock.

Here are a couple of places that I’ve bought from with no problems:

Trainworld http://www.trainworld1.com/index.html
Toy Train Heaven http://www.toytrainheaven.com/

These are places that I have heard great things about (and would try if I had any money left in my MRR budget):

Wig-Wag LLC http://www.wig-wag-trains.com/ProductLinePage.htm
ModelTrainStuff.com http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/

Here are some other larger places that I have not heard much about, but they seem to have good prices/selections:

N-Scale Supply: http://www.nscalesupply.com/NScaleSupply.html
Caboose Hobbies: http://www.caboosehobbies.com/
The N-scale Division: http://www.nscaledivision.com/frames_page.htm

And finally, There is Brooklyn Locomotive Works. They seem to have very good prices, but the reviews have been mixed. Some people swear by them, and others at them. I can’t figure out how to feel about them, but they are probably worth checking out anyway (nice website):

Hope this helped.

Hi Thom,
I believe you model in N scale like me. Here in Singapore, there are a couple of hobby shops which sell only models of European railways. I get most of my stuff by mail order from Nscalesupply.com. Been using them for a few years now and find their prices fair, their service and advice reliable. Worth taking a look at their website.

I like internettrains.com for their variety and the choice they offer in their product line.
However, I have to say that they are frequently out of stock on items that I order
from them. The order I am currently waiting on was placed on May 27th (11 days
ago) and it was just shipped today. I insisted that they should not wait for
the backordered items to arrive. Their default shipping is UPS ground, which from
the LA area (where they are located), takes about one week to arrive here in Florida.
As far as receiving shipments in a timely manner, I'm most happy with eBay
merchants that I purchase from.

Trainworld -see MR ad every month (for years) - they never have disappointed me, and their pricing beats most everybody, and never a backorder, either.
