Don't forget the NHRS's "Bluegrass Festival by the Tracks' April 10th, 2010. I got some really SWEET deals on some locomotives and rolling stock at last year's festival swap meet.  They also have an HO scale layout in the RPO car and have food, drinks, and some good music.

The Houston Railroad Museum is on Mesa Drive. Take IH-610 south and get off on McCarty road. Go east under the freeway and turn left on Mesa Dr.  The museum is on the right at the far end of Railwood business park....chuck

The next big Houston show will be October 16-17 at the George R Brown Convention center. I received the flyer at my booth Saturday. It is being put on by one of the Museums. More info will be released in the coming weeks.

I heard there will be one in November at the George R. Brown Center.  I don't have any other info yet.

Mark,

I made out pretty good. I was looking for HO structures as I'm at that phase on my layout and I hit the mother lode. I got a lot of new Walthers kits for 50-60% off retail.

I saw a lot of old cars kits like Silver Streak & metal Roundhouse as well as many craftsman structures.

If you needed N scale there seemed to be a huge amount for sale.

I was kinda disappointed in the amount of books and videos available. I only saw one table selling books & DVDs in quantity and he was not all that cheap.

I agree that it's a shame Houston can only draw one show a year. It's just a good thing for us stuck here in Scum City that San Jac really does a great job with the show. They always come through and are to be thanked and commended for their efforts.

The show was great and lots of people. Im sad its over already. Is this the only train show Houston has per year? I wish they would have at least two per year, one in the fall would be great.

I was lucky to find some cool items, an Atlas GP40 Rio Grande (Austria Made) , Walthers SW1 Burlington Northern and lastly an old Silver Streak Reefer Kit in Great Northern.

How did everyone else do?

I plan on being there with Jeff. I surely hope I can find some good used SP passenger cars for sale. They had a few at the San Antonio Show  2 weeknds ago, but they were brand new and way too pricey....chuck
