Bryan--
In addition to the email, go to the Topozone website and search for Gatesville TX (try this link below-if I did it right it will put you there):
http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=31.4271&lon=-97.7464&s=200&size=s&symshow=n&datum=nad83&layer=DRG25
You can zoom in and out, and even print it out, and they have aerial photos available. Move up the map to the east and northeast along the tracks, and you can follow the line through McGregor and right in to Waco and beyond.

The closest SSW sub to you was the Gatesville sub from Waco. If you can find a copy, Charlie Zlatcovich's book "Texas Railroads-A Record of Construction and Abandonment", University of Texas Press will have all the info you need.

I need to find info on any
SSW
subs. in or around central or north texas by the DFW area or Waco area. I am also interested in routes around or near Austin and San Antonio
my original plan was a freelanced layout of the
SSW
but i wanted a more realistic layout so im intrested in a real acutal rail line for my layout.
the era im looking for is 1990 to the end of the
SSW
in 1996.
the subs can be either abondoned or are being run now by UP
im mostly intrested in a short mainline or a branch line
feel free to share any info
