If that's the best price you can find for it, then they're pretty expensive. You can get a small compressor that will not only power your air brush but some small air tools for less than $100. Home Depot, Sears, just to name some obvious ones.

How is the noise factor of these other compressors?

Everything from "sounds like an auto shop compressor" to whisper quiet, depending on which one you pick. Also, since they have a pressure tank, they don't run constantly while you're working. For a simple car body or small building, I let it run once then shut it off. There's enough pressure in the tank to spray the paint and clean the air brush. Mine is a 2 gallon.

Home Depot, Sears, just to name some obvious ones. One of the other bad points, I've heard some users complain about the pulsing air output, which can make your paint spit rather than spray, but I've never used one. I have had the small one from Sears for about 3 years. Mine came with a regulator that can be set down to about 10 PSI all the way up to the output of the compressor 120 PSI. Move versatile, and cheaper. I've had no trouble with mine, but can't make a comparison, like I said, I've never had one of the Badgers.

Thinning is best done following the paint manufacturer's recommendations. Check their website.

A paint booth is a good idea with any type paint, if nothing else, to keep peace in the household. It will blow the paint smell outside (if vented properly). Any painting using paint with VOC's should definately be done in vented spray booth, and with the user wearing a proper respirator.

Today I used an 50% off coupon for Michaels  store to buy the Badger Cyclone air compressor ( Full price was $279.00 so with tax it was $150.00. Walthers sale price is $220.00).  What are the good & bad points with this compressor, what added items do you think I should get. My air brush is a Crescendo duel action ( I also used a Michaels 50% off coupon on buying it ). I plan on using acrylics mostly. What is the good & bad as for as paint & thinner choices. Is a paint booth needed? Thanks for all the imput.
