I saw their display at the Springfield show last weekend. It is very impressive. They also have a number of laser cut buildings including some brick ones with the bricks "inscribed" into the wood by laser cutter.

No I am in the city planning stage, the bench work is having the track laid and the DCC wiring installed, any help with layout will be appreciated.

CNJ831 Sam, at the moment my elevated line only extends about 6' , passing behind the buildings and deadending. I originally planned for it to go through the backdrop and be operational and that still remains a possibility in the future as that section of the layout is not yet fully completed. CNJ831

looks great!! I was just wondering; Does the elevated track come from someplace, somewhere behind the buildings? Or is just one section behind the building?

Homer,
I am making a shelf display unit, actually a 'plate rail' unit & it will consist of a 1x3ish base with Micro Engineerings City Viaducts kits. For me it will take 3 Single Track kits, & a couple of HOn3 50ft bridge spans (same depth & compatible, as the 30' ones in the kits) to fill out my approx 6 foot span. It will be as close to 6 ft & trimmed to bridge structure length when finished. I will lay my bottom (tunnel) track without roadbed, & elevate the viaduct piers with old computer keyboard keys as pylon bases. Here is a pic without the keyboard keys, but approximated.
Have u started on it yet?
Railphotogdinwitty Bob Boudreau is a North Shore line expert et al. Not sure if you're trying to be sarcastic or what. I know almost nothing about the line, I just assembled the kit and did a review. It was just an exercise in modeling for me, and I learned some things from the efforts.

no sarcasm. The line ran from Chicago to Milwaukee. Last run was in Jan 1963 cold of winter.
It ran on the elevated downtown Chicago. The operating ghost of it is the Skokie Swift and the Ravenswood line to the north.

Con Cor recently released the Electroliner which ran on the line
MisterBeasley How many of those MicroEngineering kits did you use? As I recall, each one is fairly short. They are beautifully detailed, though, and you've built the scene around them superbly. I'm particularly impressed by the "layered" use of full-sized structures, background flats and finally background wallpaper. Terrific urban scene. Love the era, too.

MB - As I recall, what you see in my image amounted to a total of three kits and some spare parts. I saved costs by salvaging somene else's two already built-up kits off eBay, then almost totally re-built and weathered them.

Here are some shots of my urban elevated system to perhaps give you some ideas. I used Mirco Engineering kits and parts to construct it.

Central valley makes bridge structure parts, I found the Atlas N scale truss bridge parts to scale down looking like EL bridge structure. Use Plastruct material, many ways.
there are many ways going about it, I will be building the Chicago EL. Eric Bronsky had some articles in MR.. How to Raise EL, search the magazine database.
Someone is making a kit package for the chicago EL but I am tracking down the linkage for that, I will post back when I find it.
The EL structure is basically a bridge structure.
I trying to add a EL rail system to my city layout, I need help with good ideas and a place for structures & materials.
