New to the hobby
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, May 23, 2004 11:20 AM
Hi, just beginning in the hobby and need to decide on a DCC system. I have just completed my 4x8 table and plan on running 2-3 locomotives. I want to use sound, accessories etc.

Based on my research it looks like the digitrax zephyr is the best value for the money for a small layout.

Any other advice?

You will get a lot of opinions on this subject, so here's mine. I use the Zephyr and I'm
happy with it. I do plan to buy the DT400 throttle. And maybe a booster in the future(?).
Do some research and make an informed purchase. Good luck, Dave

[#welcome] to the forum. I use a Digitrax Empire builder. i would go with that. it gives you a little more freedom to move around. and if you want to go wireless it is IR ready. so i would go with the empire builder. it's cheaper in the long run

Good point. Looking back, I might have went with the Empire Builder to start with.

[#welcome] shaley, I run straight DC and have no experience with DCC so can't help you.

Hi Shaily I have gotten many people going in Model Railroading. Many Recent ones having started them fresh out on DCC. In my opinion you chose the right choice for a beginners DCC system. The only addition I would make is to add an extra DT300 Throttle to give you some walk around ability.

Welcome to the hobby.
