MRRSparky

The magazine touts the availability of several Online Extra videos.  Darned if I can find them.  I am not a subcriber to MR (recently cancelled).  I wonder if that is the problem.

I went to the MR main website page and the online extras selection appears in the center as mentioned.  Clicking on the various selections it appears that some of them require that you be a subscriber to view them, and some of them only require that you be a registered member.  Cody's Office and History According to Heidger, for example, require that that you be a subscriber.

On the other hand, the Realistic Track choice seems to only require that you be registered.  Since you have to be registered to post on this forum, I would assume that you should be able to see that video.

I normally never use IE.  I just went to the "Online Extras" area for this special issue and attempted to access the associated extras using IE.

Since I was not logged in, I received a message that I needed to be a registered member of the MR website to view the videos.  The way it was worded, I suspect that any registered user of the MR website will be able to access these videos.  I cannot test this as I'm a subscriber and I do not want to create a second user ID just to test this out.

If a site member who is not a subscriber will give it a try, it would answer the question.  But it appears to me that all that is required to access special issue "Online Extras{" is a Model Railroader user account and not a subscription.

In order to access the extras you need to be a subscriber----

Yup, you paid for the Track Planning issue and you must pay to access the online "extras" by subscribing.  MRR does not give too much away for nothing.

My understanding is that for on-line extras, etc., you have to have a subscription.

On the Model Railroader web page, just to the right center of your screen do you have a box titled:

Online Extras ?  If so, under it should be a tab for Realistic Reliable Track Videos.  Click on that.

If you don't have the Online Extra box, you may be correct in your assumption that a subscription is required.

Good luck,

Chuck
