I have a couple of CMI MW101 transformers that are not working properly. Can anyone advise where I can get them repaired? I tried to contact CMI but it looks like they might be out of business.
I have a CMI that had the walk-around control on a wire that quit working. But the transformer was still good, so with a electronics friend to help. The electronics was tossed and converted to a straight 12 volt rheostat. It will operate the industrial company diesel.
If you are comfortable working on electrical and electronic devices, or have a friend who is, you can open the case and check out the innards. Worst-case scenario, you might simply gut everything but the step-down transformer and reduce it to an AC power supply for lights and accessories. Or the problem might be something as simple as a failed solder joint. Until the case is off, you won't know.
OTOH, if you aren't familiar with such things, it might be less expensive to replace. The few electronic repair folks still in business charge a lot for their time.
