Very nice work Jon. I always click on your threads right away when I see them.

A while back in a large CP yard I saw three gondola's with no less then four different names painted on them from defunct railroads, so you don't have to stop at one name change.

Jon......Here's some old shots of cars I repatched.  I have some more pictures on my website.

Patched and restencilled freight cars
Posted by jon grant on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 5:03 PM

I recently got interested in the subject of 'patched' freight cars - those freight cars either taken over by successors andrenumbered, or cars that have been repainted in one area and the number restencilled, so it can be read.

Here is my first attempt at a patched gondola in HO. I'd be very interested in seeing other modellers examples (any scale/gauge), to get some ideas.

The gondola is a detailled and weathered Roundhouse example, but I still haven't added the brake gear detail - perhaps someone can provide a photo showing the brake arrangement.
