Loco Break-in Procedure
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, May 16, 2004 11:07 AM
Please send me your procedures for breaking-in new HO locomotives. If you operate DCC, do you perform the break-in with the decoder installed, or do you break-in on a DC track?

This comes from the FEF-3 Rivarossi. Allow 20 minutes break-in time, making frequent start and stops, running at various speeds, but not full. No mention of a separate DCC procedure.

I usually test run my locos before I install the decoder. I use a Digitrax system so I'll run them on analog address 00 just to make sure they operate properly before I install a decoder and speaker. I normally run them for about an hour varying the speed frequently and running them both forward and reverse.
Have Fun,
Tom Watkins
