For me, the new organization is much improved. 13,327 HO items on 692 pages is just too much to read through looking for something. Most of the items are for badly used, old stuff in the kids trains category that I have no interest in.
The new organization helps me tremendously. By searching smaller categories and using the email notification service, I have no difficulty in selecting out only the items I'm interested in without wading though the junk.
If you are interested in items with a specific roadname, use the Search>Favorite Searches menu.

Just what I suspected! The reorganization was not to make things easier for the sellers or buyers, it was only to increase eBay's revenues by forcing sellers to list in multiple categories. With the growth rates expected by Wall Street for dot.coms, eBay has reached close to a saturation point in increasing participation, so the only thing they know how to do is raise rates by subterfuge to meet The Street's expectations.

As a seller, I hate the new organization. Not only do I have to choose a category for a custom model that uses several manufacturer's parts, I had to learn to navigate their new selling page, which took forever. I have a tiny window to list auctions in, so the old way was much more efficient and easier to list in. Also, I feel like I'm limiting buyers by listing in the other manufacturers category instead of the broader HO scale category (you can't list in that category anymore, though you can browse it). Anyway, I definitely don't like it.

I thought that at first, too. The old categories are still available, they have just been renumbered. I like to look at everything in N scale, for example, as sometimes people don't know what they have, or misdescribe it. Picked up some real bargains that way!

they went through the train section and re-organized everything by manufacturer. it really doesnt help much, unless you are looking for something bu a specific maker. i think it would be better if they re-organized everything by road name.

Is it my broad imagination or has somebody totally trashed the model railroad catagories and forums section? Ebay used to be a piece of cake to navigate until they fixed it. Guess they never heard "if it ain`t broke don`t fix it". Never did find the model railroad forum again, only complaints about the new format. The railroaders seem to be uneasy in those neck of the woods. Hope ebays computer wonders in the hobby section get it together! Gerald
