Disassembling a Rivarossi Tender

I have a newer, not exactly sure of the manufacturing date, HO scale Rivarossi 4-6-4 Hudson. I want to do a little electrical work and would like to add a DCC decorder. After have inspected the engine and tender, I,ve come to the conslusion that I will have to locate the decorder in the tender.
While inspecting the tender, is appears the front is somehow secured through the drawbar pin and I can't see how to disassemble it. I'm afraid to pry or pull with any excessive force for fear of damaging it. Does anyone know how to pull this apart, am I missing some hidden screw? The instruction sheet does not clearly indicate how to remove the top of the tender.

Its been awhile but the Big Boy and Y6b tenders used the drawbar pin. See if there is a little slot in the rounded exposed end. If so the look at the front of the tender. One of mine has a little slot where a nut slips in to hold the sides like a crescent wrench. When you unscrew the pin with a jewers screw driver just make sure you don't lose the nut. The back end has a tongue and groove connection and when you lift the front you can slide the shell forward to remove it.

Every Rivarossi tender I've ever played around with has had a rivet securing the body to the frame. Sometimes, the rivet is at the drawbar connection, and sometimes it's near the center of the frame. Hunt around for it, and either pry it apart or use a Dremel tool to sand off the rivet's flange. Replace the rivet with a 2-56 screw.

Thanks for the tips. I did find that flat blade screw head on the end of the pin. Came apart no problem. I stripped the engine tender over the weekend and its in the paint shop as we speak.
Thanks again.
