It does sometimes make me frustrated. Why do derailments continue to occur with all of our so called "technological advancements"?

O.K. I'm through venting. I wonder what caused this. I'm sure we'll find out soon. One thing I've continued to hear since the 1970s is that railroads have actually reduced the size of maintenance forces as cost cutting measures. The last time I saw a Sperry Rail detector car the railroad here in my neck of the woods was still known as "Seaboard System".

I'm still ranting, but in my humble opinion any derailment, just like an airliner crash, is ONE TOO MANY!

My dad listens to the radio out of Denver and told me about the derailment after i got home from school. It looks pretty bad but at least no one was injured.

Looks kinda like something I saw on my friends layout the other day, no river though. Thank god no one was hurt (in Denver or on my friends layout) [:)]

For sure on seeing the bottom of freight cars. But I didn't see the screw that holds the trucks on.
