I have two of the early run BLI SD40-2s.  As I recall, there were some minor issues with some of the dimensions and details in prototype modeling circles.  All of these were very, very minor.  There were also errors in some pf the paint schemes applied.  Mine are BN paint and each one of the two have inaccuracies in the paint job.  One has green pilots on each end while the other has the white face schemewith black side sills in the middle.  Each is technically incorrect, but correctable.

As far as electrical issues, they have early QSI sound decoders.  Programming them takes a little extra juice to the programming track, but they run fine and once programmed have no issues keeping the settings.

Google is good! Yahoo is my friend.

I see Trainworld is offering Broadway Limited SD40-2 DCC+Sound at $99.99. Presumably these are the first issue so would be 3 or 4 years old. I have a couple of the Kato Mid Production units but the BL units available could suit my modelling.

How does the BLI version rate against the Kato version?
