Sorry, Patton and the Third Army did not cross at Remagen, it was Hodges with the First Army.

[What, pray tell, would one do with a bridge at Remagan?

Last I visited the Rhine (early twenty-first century), there was no bridge at Remagan.  Boy! was that a disappointment!

Mark

Although the bridge did withstand the Wehrmacht´s attempt to blow it up, Patton´s tanks and Jeeps finally made it to give in... Laugh

You can still see the abutments on both sides of the Rhine River.

Funny that everybody seems to know Remagen... Smile,Wink, & Grin

Rule 1: This is my railroad.

Rule 2: I make the rules.

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!

What on earth would one do with a bridge in Keokuk? Sit by it and read "Tom Sawyer"?

I can just hear my wife now... "What do you mean exactly by, "I bought a bridge off some guy I met down at the VFW?"

I'm tempted by the swing span, but I don't want all the others. Do you think they'd break up the set?

Ed

PS: Maybe someone would like to go in on buying the whole bridge and take the other spans. Anyone??
